This Valentines week, Mahira Khan receives love from an unexpected place

The first Pakistan International Screen Awards were held in Dubai the past weekend and Mahira Khan stole the spotlight as she dazzled in a metallic, sequenced outfit by Rami Kadi.

Turns out, close friend and designer Hassan Shehryar Yasin (HSY) styled Mahira for the big night. Sharing some behind the scenes pictures, HSY explained the concept behind Mahira’s look and praised her for carrying the outfit with utmost elegance and grace.

“Mahira is an elegant star,” he wrote in the caption, which almost read like a love letter. “That’s her thing. Elegance. She doesn’t have to try too hard, it’s a natural thing for her.”

I love styling, but rarely do I ever get into styling someone. But Mahira is not only my favorite but also a close friend. While we were in Dubai, our synergies matched as always, and I styled her look for the award show which I have to say she was amazing about. Mahira is an elegant Star. That's her thing. Elegance. She doesn't have to try too hard, it's a natural thing for her. But she is also aspirational which means she must also be on trend and current. This seasons forecast is Metallics, iridescence, structure, and close to the body silhouette. The dress by Rami Kadi hit all those notes. And in a sea of black, silvers and color, she shimmered in a gold unlike any other on the red carpet. After trying many, we chose the most simple and elegant understated diamond studs for her ears, she didn't need chandelier earrings or statement bracelets and ring, sometimes less is more. The hair was decided to be kept simple and functional but also on trend, parted and straight. No fuss. No muss. No curls. The lip was dabbed with the slightest hint of gloss to celebrate the gowns shimmer and the shoes were high enough to strut the catwalk with stately poise but comfortable enough to be practical while walking or working the red carpet. The look, in my opinion, was high gloss glamour and when our common friends whispered to me how great she was looking, I knew we had achieved what we wanted in her look. Styling is perfection when done for that individual person. You can't force a certain style or dress on someone, you must enhance what they are aiming for and work with their strongest attributes. With Mahira, elegance is the name of the game and it's my favorite too.
