Sajal Aly is celebrating the third anniversary of her Bollywood film Mom – which released on this date (July 7) in 2017- in which she shared the screen with the late Sri Devi and Adnan Siddiqui.
Sharing some stills from the film and behind the scenes, Sajal said that Mom was an unforgettable experience.
“There are some experiences that, no matter how much time goes by, you can never forget,” wrote the actor. “More often then not, people think that an actors life is easy, but not everyone thinks about the things we leave have behind when we commit to a character. For me, Mom was not a film, but a portion of my life I will never forget.
Mom is a crime thriller film directed by Ravi Udyawar. It is centred around a mother (Sridevi) who sets out to avenge the rape of her stepdaughter (Aly). The film also stars Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Akshaye Khanna in supporting roles. The movie marked Sridevi’s 300th and final major film appearance before her death on February 24 2018.
Upon its release, the film was a critical and commercial success with critics and audiences lauding the performance of Sajal and Sridevi. Sridevi also won the Best Actress Awards at the IIFA Awards that year for her performance in the film.

Meanwhile, Sridevi and Sajal also developed a special bond while shooting for the film. So much so that when Sridevi passed away, Sajal said: “Lost my mom again.”
It was also reported that after Sajal’s own mother passed away, Sridevi took her “under her wings” and treated her like her own daughter.
“Sajal lost her mother recently, whom she was very close to. It shattered the girl. Sridevi took Sajal under her wings after the tragedy, treated the girl as her own daughter. Afterwards, Sajal called Sridevi from her home-town in Pakistan and broke down saying the whole experience was too close to her to be treated as a film,” said the report.
Similarly, in an interview, Sajal while talking about Sridevi had said: “She’s just the sweetest person. Even now, she keeps calling me and reminding me that I’m in her thoughts.”
Later, in a video that went viral on social media, Sridevi became emotional while reminiscing about the time she was shooting with the Pakistani actors for the film.
Mom is available to stream on Netflix.
