PM Imran offers condolences to Shaan over mother Neelo Begum’s death

Veteran film star and Shaan’s mother Neelo has passed away at the age of 80. She was suffering from cancer.

“I don’t know what to write as words have become empty, just like the world without her is so meaningless,” wrote Neelo’s son Shaan Shahid while announcing the news.

Soon after Shaan announced the news, messages of condolences began to pour in as fans and colleagues remembered the late actor. Prime Minister Imran Khan also expressed his grief and extended his condolences to Shaan and his family.

Born Cynthia Alexander Fernandes to a Christian family in Sargodha’s Bhera town, Neelo began her career with the Hollywood film Bhowani Junction in 1956. She only was 12 years old at the time.

She adopted the name Abida Riaz after her marriage with director Riaz Shahid in 1965.

Some of Neelo’s most notable films include Zarqa, Do Rastey and Ghoonghat.
