Politics and showbiz – two separate things? Actor and former Governor of California from 2003 to 2011, Arnold Schwarzenegger, does not seem to think so. In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Arnold said that Caitlyn Jenner, a Republican, has a high chance of winning the top state spot as Gavin Newsom faces an election recall later this year.
Caitlyn Jenner, formerly known as Bruce Jenner, rose to stardom after he brought home a gold medal from the 1976 Olympic Games. Jenner went on to marry Kris Kardashian and had a regular appearance on the hottest reality show of the decade called Keeping up With the Kardashians, until April 2015, when he came out as a trans woman.

After experiencing emotional turmoil following his transition to Caitlyn Jenner, the former athlete and motivational speaker decided to become actively involved in trans activism to voice the concerns of the trans community. Recently, she decided to run for elections to take her activism to the next level.
Being “very good friends” with both Jenner and Newsom, Arnold believes that “the key thing about all this — doesn’t matter if it’s Caitlyn or anyone else — is to have a clear vision of where you want to go, what are the kind of changes you want to make and why are you qualified to become governor. That’s what you have to convince the people.”
“All the other stuff is all nonsense because the press will attack you no matter who you are. They attacked me but then, in the end, I won, so that was the main thing,” said the Terminator star further.
“Anyone has a chance because I think that the people are dissatisfied with what’s going on here in California,” Schwarzenegger said, adding that he hopes that whoever becomes governor fixes “the mess we are in right now.”
Schwarzenegger believes that more than 100 candidates will run for the seat.
“Just about everyone that is thinking about running has called me [for advice],” he concluded. “I’m very good friends with Caitlyn. I have the utmost respect for her but I’m also very good friends with Governor Newsom and I’m good friends with all the other people that have contacted me and have asked me for advice about running or not running and all those kinds of things.”
Caitlyn also appears to have gotten Kimmel’s support because he was heard saying: “I think the thing Caitlyn knows for sure is the changes she wants to make — because she made some real big changes.”
Meanwhile, the Republican reality star has received flak for her plans to run for governor. It has also been reported that her own family is against her decision and will not be campaigning for her. TMZ reported that Jenner’s sons — Brody, Brandon and Burt — are said to be embarrassed by her political run and even told her not to move ahead with her plans.
