Cinemas in Pakistan and across the world were closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many movies which were set to release in 2020 were pushed forward due to the uncertainty brought by the pandemic and the closure of sets and theatres. But as the vaccination process is speeding up in the country, there are chances that cinemas will re-open soon.
Here is a list of movies that will be released when the cinemas will be opened:
Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad
Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad is said to be an action-comedy with lots of twists and turns and quick-witted humour. The movie features Fahad Mustafa and Mahira Khan, it is expected to release on Eid-ul-Azha 2020.
London Nahi Jaunga
Humayun Saeed, Mehwish Hayat and Kubra Khan starrer London Nahi Jaunga is directed by Nadeem Baig and penned by Mere Paas Tum Ho’s writer, Khalil-ur-Rehman Qamar. The movie’s release date is not final yet as some part of the script is still to be shot.
Tich Button
Tich Button is directed by Qasim Ali Mureed and produced by Urwa Hocane. The principal photography of the film began in February 2019. The film was scheduled to be released on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr in 2020, but was postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dum Mastam
Dum Mastam stars Imran Ashraf and Amar Khan in the leads. Adnan Siddiqui, who will be making his debut as a producer with Dum Mastam had confirmed on his Instagram that the movie will be released in 2021. While filming is complete, post-production activities are still underway. It has been directed by Mohammad Ehteshamuddin, who has previously directed the Mahira Khan starrer, Superstar.
The Legend of Maula Jutt
After several delays and legal hurdles, Bilal Lashari’s upcoming film, The Legend of Maula Jatt was initially set to release in 2020. The executive producer of the film, Ammara Hikmat, had announced earlier that the film will be released on Eid-ul-Fitr 2020 in cinemas across Pakistan but it also got hit by the closure of cinemas due to the Covid-19. The new date for the release of Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Gohar Rasheed and Humaima Malick starrer is yet to be announced.
Money Back Guarantee
Money Back Guarantee is a Pakistani film directed by Faisal Qureshi. The film stars Fawad Khan, Hina Dilpazir, Ali Safina, Wasim Akram, Shayan Khan, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Gohar Rasheed, and Afzal Khan aka Jan Rambo. The film was scheduled for release on May 22, 2020.
Kamli
Saba Qamar’s Kamli is directed by Sarmad Khoosat and it was initially expected to release on Eid-ul-Fitr 2020. Qamar, who was last seen on the big screen in Pakistan in Wajahat Rauf’s Lahore Se Aagey had claimed in a statement that Kamli will be “bigger than Hindi Medium”.
Ghabrana Nahi Hai
Ghabrana Nahi Hai is a movie about empowerment and it stars Saba Qamar in the lead role. Scheduled for a 2021 release, the upcoming film also features Zahid Ahmed and Syed Jibran in pivotal roles. Directed by Saqib Khan, the film had previously aimed for an Eid-ul-Azha 2020 release, however, shooting for the project had to be postponed due to the pandemic.
Neelofar
Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan starrer Neelofar has been written by Ammar Rasool and produced by Qasim Mehmood. Though the details about the film are being kept tightly under wraps, audiences are looking forward to Neelofar because of Mahira and Fawad’s pairing. The project will be the actors’ next after Bilal Lashari’s The Legend of Maula Jatt, which is yet to hit the screens.
Ishrat – Made in China
Mohib Mirza’s first feature film, Ishrat Made In China includes Shamoon Abbasi, Sanam Saeed, Mani, Sara Loren, Nayyar Ejaz, Shabbir Jaan and Ali Kazmi. The movie will introduce fashion designer Hassan Sheheryar Yaseen (HSY) in a negative role. The film is an action flick that revolves around gang rivalries and was scheduled for release in 2020 but Mohib stated in an interview that the film will be released soon after the cinemas will re-open.
Rehbara
Rehbara is an upcoming Pakistani romantic comedy film, directed by Amin Iqbal and produced by Saira Afzal. The film stars Ahsan Khan and Ayesha Omer in leading roles. The film has had its release date repeatedly postponed. It was scheduled to release in 2020.
Kahay Dil Jidhar
Kahay Dil Jidhar stars Junaid Khan, Mansha Pasha, and Roma Michael. written by Kamran Bari, the film has been directed by Jalal. Juanid, who is making his big-screen debut, said in an interview that the film was scheduled to release on Eid-ul-Fitr 2020 but it didn’t.
Chakkar
Chakkar is an upcoming Pakistani murder mystery film directed by Yasir Nawaz and produced by Nida Yasir, in association with Farid Nawaz Productions. The film stars Ahsan Khan, Neelam Muneer and Yasir Nawaz, with Javed Sheikh and Danish Nawaz in supporting roles. The film was officially announced in 2019. The film’s principal photography began in March 2020 in Karachi. The shoot was wrapped up on December 27, 2020. Chakkar is scheduled to be releasing in 2021
Pardey Mein Rehne Do
Ali Rehman Khan and Hania Aamir’s Pardey Mein Rehne Do is Produced by Shazia Wajahat. The film had gone under floors last year and was expected to release in 2020, but the widespread had halted the shoot. The shoot completed in March 2021 and it is expected to be released in 2021. The film also features Javed Sheikh in a prominent role.
Abhee
Abhee is an upcoming movie by talented Gohar Mumtaz and Kubra Khan. The movie’s story is full of thrill and romance. Kubra Khan will appear with a different character and with her best acting skills. Abhee also features Saleem Sheikh, Usman Peerzada, Yasra Rizvi, Mahmood Aslam, Hina Bayat, Ehteshamud Din and Asif Raza Mir. Written by Gohar Mumtaz, the film is directed by Asad Malik and produced by international UK based company Daniel Johnes.
