It is rumored that Mehwish Hayat will be joining the most awaited Ms Marvel web series with other Pakistani superstars Fawad Khan and Nimra Bucha.
Legendary veteran actor Samina Ahmed is reportedly part of the series as she was shooting for a ‘Hollywood serial’ in Thailand last year, which her husband Manzar Sehbai revealed earlier. As per details, Indian producer-actor Farhan Akhtar was also in Bangkok for the shoot of the show.
The Punjab Nahi Jaungi actress has yet to confirm the news regarding her casting in the upcoming web series.
Two-time Oscar-winning director, Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy is one of the four directors who was officially announced last year by Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios.
According to a press release, “The Marvel Studios original series centres on fan-favourite Kamala Khan — a 16-year-old Pakistani-American growing up in Jersey City. A great student, avid gamer, and voracious fan-fic scribe, Kamala has a special affinity for superheroes, particularly Captain Marvel.”
Ms Marvel is Marvel Studios’ first onscreen Muslim hero. Written by Bisha K. Ali and co-created by Marvel editor and director Sana Amanat, she was first introduced in 2014. Feige had earlier said that in addition to appearing on the small screen, Kamala Khan will also be included in future Marvel films.
The webseries will premiere on the streaming platform Disney+ in Summer 2022.
