Fans have expressed their disappointment over the participation of Indian comedian, Munawar Faruqui in Kangana Ranaut’s upcoming show, Lock Upp.
The show inspired by Bigg Boss will be released on February 27 on the streaming platform, MX player.
The streaming platform, ALT Balaji which is owned by Ekta Kapoor posted a promo of ‘Lock upp’.
The second confirmed contestant Faruqui had targeted Kangana over her nepotism stance and used to crack jokes on her in the past.
One of the fans expressed disappointment in joining Kangana’s reality show and one should not use social media to support such so-called victims.
One fan said, “Munawar Faruqui was jailed for a joke he didn’t crack. And now doing a show with Kangana Ranaut, he is playing a cruel joke on us. And on himself.”
Another fan targeted him for collaborating with a casteist piece of shit who 24X7 spits venom against other religions & castes.
Meanwhile, Munawar Faruqui responded to criticism over appearing in the reality show, Lock Upp.
He said, “If someone believes in ideologies, they would also believe that we live in a democratic country. We all have the freedom of speech and to put across our beliefs. If one expects to be heard and their opinions respected, they too would have to do the same. It’s going to be a give and take situation.”
Last year, Faruqui was forced to stop his performance at a café in Indore by Hindu right-wing nationalists, who accused him of insulting Hindu gods during the rehearsals of his show. He was then handed over to the police with four others. He spent 37 days under police custody.
